So...I got my new SFs this morning. Only to find the rubber armour on the inside of both barrels was hanging off one side, and very loose on the other. Pressing it back into place worked for a while but then it came away again... :-(

Also, the eyecup on one side was sloppy in finding the click stops, even when I screwed it tightly in. It didn't match the other side in fluidity and ease of movement.

Disappointed to see these sorts of problems in two new pairs. I remember my old 8x42FLs having armour coming away from the body but that was 2007, I would have thought QC would have come on since then.. Pretty sure this case is just a simple glue issue and could easily be fixed, but I'm still disappointed as I now have to wait on Zeiss in Melbourne to send me a replacement. Oh well, first world problems and all that and at least the armour was not 'blooming'...

Otherwise it was good to have a quick compare with my NL 10x32s....equally good, but maybe not quite as bright, or maybe just more contrasty? Hard to say at the moment, both are great but just different!

When they quality checked it the armor was fitting. Mine had a similar issue but not that critical. It had been produced this year.

Well what I did was: I had wrapped it with a narrow ribbon, and used the bino as normal for 3 months. After that time I removed it and the armor kept in place. The glue just needs to harden.

They should wait until the glue hardens, before they ship the binoculars.

I am interested in a deep and objective as possible comparison between the real world difference: Contrast, clarity, detail recognition, brightness etc. in all imaginable light and observation situations.

I prefer natural real colors over artificial color pronunciation (someone call it color fidelity but I guess the Nature in NLs name means not natural).

In my unsolicited opinion, you need to look through and handle an NL in order to answer your question.

No one can tell you what you will see, they can only tell you what they see.
