This is an update and continuation of my camera search thread in the Cameras and Photography Forum. Attached are 3 photos of my resident Curved-billed Thrasher. They were shot with the Pana FZ1000 straight out of the box. Set to IA; all automatic, no manual settings. All done by a virgin photographer, knowing nothing more than the location of the Shutter button and the ON position of the ON-OFF switch. The bird was shot at 25, 50, and 75 foot distance. I took 20 photos, all at full zoom. 10 came out blurry, 7 came out too dark with the subject in the shadows. The remaining 3 are posted. I'm looking at this as a 20 percent improvement over attempts at using a pocket camera. This is in reference to my Essential Tremor. Not being familiar with the camera body, the proper handling/holding technique caused me difficulty. I'm still not sure how best to hold it. Niels, you're right....I need to get beyond the automatic level of use rather quick. I'm overwhelmed, I'm running over myself trying to figure out where to go next. I have no questions at this time; it's too soon to formulate any. If you, if anyone has suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks so much. /r Bill
