It does seem sometimes that the birds dislike some feeders - I bought a fancy split peanut/seed feeder and filled it up but even after a month I only saw one bird on it and all the food rotted. I put out a different peanut feeder and they flocked to it! Yet I gave that same failed feeder to my Mum to try (after cleaning it) and she gets lots of birds on it! I find the peanuts do go fairly slowly but the birds go through phases of interest in different foods - sunflowers hit hard for a bit, then maybe the fatballs, then seed mid, then peanuts. I think I have rather 'faddy' visitors! I get a lot of Starlings, House Sparrows and particularly Blue Tits going for the peanuts, I don't get many great tits or long-tails and have never seen a Coal Tit here (bar one on the very edge of the village).
