Dear all,
Rich S has had some Tices Meadow Bird Group car stickers made up they look great with Little Ring Plover . We will hand them around when we see you or give us a call.
Of note today Water Rail in stream this morning showing well , Snipe in the reeds . Kestrel and Sparrowhawk and 7 Common Gull and Pochard.
Rich H.

Rich, Dave B has been given two. I will speak to a guy who does the AOS stickers and see if he can improve on them. Maybe with a background to the Plover.

If only I'd stuck around another hour...

Very quiet 90 minute trip for me this afternoon (14:00-15:30), with the best birds being a Kestrel, c.15 Siskin, a Grey Wagtail and an impressive c.20 Stock Doves. Other than that just a light scattering of Gulls - LBB, BH, Herring and Common - and wildfowl - Shoveler, Teal, Tuftie, Mallard. Around 50 Canada Geese and 20 Cormorants.

Matt.

Late afternoon visit today, stayed to 4.35 but again no owls around. Seemed fairly quiet all round with 2 Snipe, 8 Pochard, 2 Shoveler and 15 cormorants. Canada's seem to have returned with 80 on the meadow and they looked as if they were staying as they all moved to the largest expense of water on the meadow as it got dark.

Rich H had 6 Goosander over this morning heading towards Badshot Lea Pond. Two Red-heads turned up on the workings but disappeared just before I got there. Wildfowl numbers pretty static with Pochard (10), T Duck (20+), Wigeon (8), Shoveler (5) and Teal (11). The southern half of the meadow produced only 4 Snipe. Plenty of winter thrushes around along with Mipits, Skylark and 1 Reed Bunting.

6 Goosanders all redheads in workings at 8 30 then flew over mound and down into Badshot Lee fishing lakes.Followed them over by Swiftsure as i scanned lake gun shot or crow scarer frightened 2 Goosander that took off going Tices way again got back to the mound found 2 again in workings . They did not stay long and by the time Rich S arrived had gone .
This evening at 16 35 Barn Owl again over meadow , just as the light is going.

Rich and I wandered around this morning and checked the area of the Kiln for evidence of Owls. Masses of Barn Owl Pellets which bodes well. On the return back through the Meadow a Jack Snipe was flushed. It flew off and landed in the reed bed.

Passerines included plenty of Winter Thrushes, Mipits, Skylarks, a lone male Reed Bunting and two Bullfinches.

To add to Rich S tally today am Little Egret in the stream.
As rich said loads of Barn Owl pellets with Tawny Owl pellets under boxes at the back of Kiln. This looks to be the best spot to veiw from.
Looks as though they use boxes we put up. What a good feeling is that. Must let the Kiln know how important this is.
Rich and i found another spot where a box would be good in their tree line. Hammer and nails are out .

I returned to the Kiln early evening and as I walked to the back of the building the Barn Owl flew out of the triangular nest box and headed out into the meadow. Well done to Rich for putting these boxes up - his hard work has come to fruition. A female Kestrel is also roosting in one of the windows. Great news - let's hope the Barny finds a mate and remains.

Belated entry - Jack Snipe again yesterday flushed from adjacent to the reed bed. Also Water Rail calling from same location.
