This morning I took another trip around the oxbow lakes south of Saint Joseph and happened to meet Scott L. at Horseshoe Lake. We were treated to several nice birds while we visited. Some of the bird species I added to the day's list: American White Pelican, Double-crested Cormorant, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Little Blue Heron (adults, calicoes and whites), Cattle Egret (~40 at Muskrat Lake), two American Coots (have not been seeing any of these lately), Caspian Tern, Forster's Tern, Black Tern.The Loggerhead Shrike remains on Contrary Creek Road off of 59 Highway. I did not see the Blue Grosbeaks today.Also, on Contrary Creek Road I saw what I believed to be a Sprague's Pipit. It was in the middle of this gravel road, a little past the three steel grain bins.
