The male Reed Bunting is back today, I wonder who's garden he was recorded in over the last weekend? He certainly wasn't in mine.|:(|
We have the usual birds as well, though the Goldfinches are down to 2 today, here in my garden anyway.

4 LTTs, the usual blue tits and great tits, rooks, woodpigeons, magpies, blackbirds, and 9 jackdaws today.

Chaffinches gallore here, the Rooks are trying their hardest to grab food from the bird table through the cage. They can just get their heads in the squares of wire while clinging on frantically.|=)| Starlings are on the hanging feeders, but find it difficult to ballance there, they are stupid, 8-P I have put exactly the same food that they are after on the grass & the patio, which is much easier for them to get at.|^|
We also have Blackbirds, a Robin, Dunnock, a Pied Wagtail & Sparrows on the patio.

Just spotted the male Blackcap on the bird table, fending off all comerso:D

Green woodpecker and cock pheasant joined the chaffinches, blue tits, great tits, rooks, wood pigeons, magpie, jay, robin, squirrels and muntjac :eek!: this morning!

This afternoon I found half a stale homemade cake in a tin! We had forgotten about it for some reason (mainly cos I am not a great fan of cakes) so I sliced it and popped it into the feeder in the front. Look who came along, nibbled at a slice for a few moments, then reached in, took a slice in his mouth and then sat on a branch finishing it off!

Great pic, Kits!

Here it has been reasonably busy with all the usual.......blackies, starlings, pied wagtails, sparrows, chaffies and just a couple of goldies. Guess that it might get a bit busier tomorrow.

The usual birds, all waited patiently in the trees while I refilled the feeders, cleaned the water pots, filled those & the pond. The hose connection has a split in it so it took longer than usual.
We had one Song Thrush on the grass & the Reed Bunting on the patio with the rest of the bird population here.
It was blowing a gale & perishingly cold too.

I was really thrilled to see a Pied Wagtail in the garden today! I know they are fairly common, but it is the first time ever I have seen one here. Also had lots of blackbirds, chaffinches, rooks, jackdaws, 1 crow, 1 greenfinch, 2 blue tits, 1 jay call in. I have cleared patches on the ground but as it is snowing again now, I fear the food will be buried.

It's been busy here all day. The visitors have cleared just about everything I've put out. The only thing that I can't understand is that I have only seen one member of the tit family all day and that was a Blue one shortly before midday. I thought that the smaller birds would flock in, but it's been the Blackies, Starlings and Woodies that have made up the bulk of the numbers with Pied Wagtails, Gold, Chaf and Green finches making up the numbers.....not forgetting the Robin too.

I've put the chaffie pic in showing him perching because I seem to recall someone (I hope that it was on here!) mentioning that they thought that it was unusual for them to perch like this to eat. This one is taking sunflower hearts and stayed there for several minutes.

Super photo's Kits & Wendy.

We have a Pied Wagtail also, Kits & don't usually get those in the garden.

The Chaffinches do that here as well Wendy, sunflower hearts out of the same hanging feeders the Goldfinches go for, but they avoid the Goldfinches as they are very agressive birds.
We now have two Wood Pigeons & a lot more Blackbirds & Corvids. Like you I haven't seen any Tits today.

Some very confused birds this morning! Anything heavier than a finch has found itself sinking into the snow. I couldn't work out what the hollows were at first until I saw a Blackie flop in to the snow and sink down! I've cleared the tables and some patches on the front lawn and knocked the snow off the feeders. The birds are so used to landing away from the food and walking/hopping to it that they have been wary of landing straight in to the cleared patches.

Busy all morning, not large numbers, but all the usual plus the Blackcap for the first time for a week.

I like your photo's, Wendy, it's strange how the snow sticks to some places, specially in the trees.

I have seen a Great Tit this morning. All the usual birds. Our hanging feeders haven't any snow on them. but I did scatter food on the patio on top of the snow there, as I could see the birds looking for it. It isn't deep here, (yet?) it was melting a bit, in the sun, when it was out.

Nice selection, Val. Love the cheeky Robin!

This morning my birds have deserted me. So far only a few Blackies and a couple of Woodies. Where the h*** are they?!

Thanks Wendy. Snow has gone here, it's raining instead, all the birds are outside feeding, including the Reed Bunting & the Goldfinches today.

With the snow melting in the front (but not the back) garden, the ground has been black with rooks and jackdaws! There must have been over 30 of them at one point. Lots of woodpigeons (14) too, plus the usual chaffinches. Only seen 1 jay, 1 magpie and 1 blue tit today though which is unusual.

A different type of black bird enjoying the supermarket scones! The cheeky chappy grabbed a scone and hopped up the branch to eat it (pic 2) but dropped it. However, he didn't seem to realise he had dropped it, and looked quite taken aback when he went to eat some more and discovered it was no longer in his feet!
