We have two, Wendy, male & female, though I have been seeing more of the female than the male & they are never close together. They must be a pair though I guess.

One of the half dozen or so Blackies that devoured two whole apples between them today, also a lot of Cotoneaster berries.

The Blackbird in my garden is pretty territorial so the others I see tend to be heading away at speed with him in pursuit! He quickly gets irritated and snaps at the sparrows and collared doves if they take too many of the suet pellets when he comes to feed; you can really hear his bill clicking! He's started chasing away the old female too recently (she's distinctively marked with some white feathers), where before they both used to come to see me to be fed together. I think they usually pair for life so hope this is just behaviour from winter shortages and not him kicking her out - she's the one that came into my kitchen and will take food from my hand so I really wouldn't want her to be forced away from the garden. I've noticed another female hanging around though and the male doesn't seem to chase her quite as much as the other blackbirds - I've been trying to look for any markings on her to work out if it's the same one each time, from behaviour and general look I 'think' it is but can't be sure.

I cleared the tables and areas of grass to put their breakfast out, but the snow came back and covered it over! Still, they seem to be finding it now, especially as some of it appears to be melting...

Lots of crows about yesterday.

Saw someone over head for maybe 5 seconds. Was larger than a gull and had more slender wings. Never saw anyone like that before. Need to check my books to kinda ID the bird.

Long-tailed Tits! First ones I've seen in my garden for... many, many months! Quite a big flock too, at least ten came in for a minute before moving on.

The resident birds have been finding it tough with all the snow and haven't been keen on the hanging feeders so I've been out clearing the ice from the water dishes and the snow from the feeder trays and refilling them. Have been out a number of times with suet pellets to feed the birds too, the blackbird found it very difficult to find the pellets on the ground even in the thin snow where I'd scraped the thicker accumulation away. The robins have been very keen for me to feed them and the female blackbirds struck back this afternoon, chasing the male away rather than being chased away herself!

Very busy couple of days here. Nothing unusual, but lots of the regulars. Up to 8 Blackies at a time, a dozen Starlings and a good handful of Chaffies. Even the Dunnocks are being a bit bolder and actually feeding from the tables. Goldies have deserted me today, someone else is probably feeding them....

A single Fieldfare out the front, vying with the Blackies for a half apple and losing! Also, a brief visit by a LTT in the back garden.

Yes, good to get a photo of a Fieldfare.

Was really great to have Long-tails in the garden, I've seen a few in the garden once or twice but never as many as were here yesterday, albeit briefly!

Had a Song Thrush visit this morning, though the resident Blackbird quickly chased it off!

Nice Fieldfare, Wendy.
We have LTT's most days flitting through the garden, they don't hang around like the other birds for long, but work up or down the gardens in a flock.
Constantly calling to each other as they go.

Yes, very good to see some goldies about!

I saw a lot of territorial posturing from the robins this afternoon; two were displaying their red breasts to each other, stretching up with their heads held up and fluttering back and forth around my neighbour's garden. I haven't seen my tame robin for a few days though, am starting to get a little concerned as its mate is still here and coming to be fed.
