Thanks Val.

Very cool to see Red Kites over your house Wendy!

I had a visit from the female Sparrowhawk today, have uploaded a video to youtube but be warned that it's slightly grizzly as she's feeding:

I think it's possibly the female Collared Dove that I'd been feeding not an hour earlier - when I looked at the feathers left they look slightly brownish.

Yes, Wendy, soaring overhead is a visitor, I count Buzzards & Herons too.;)
Lucky you are, none around here.
It was a grizzly video Fozzy, but good to get even so. I'd say Collared Dove too. Feathers seem to light for a Wood Pigeon.

Red kites are usually soaring overhead here - lovely to watch them. I watched one soaring over Sainsburys carpark on Saturday.

A heron flew over the garden yesterday morning, being mobbed by a load of rooks. Not sure why.

I have just had one of those rather sweet moments! A female blackbird flew onto the windowsill and stood watching me through the window, her head on one side, for about a minute. I didn't dare move for fear of scaring her away. She must have got bored as she has just flown off!

While I was feeding the birds a male Blackbird hopped down at my feet, with his head cocked up at me, until I dropped food for him. Which he then gathered. I guess he's got a nest somewhere.

How cute, Val! He doesn't look too shy. LOL!

Saw the first Purple Martins yesterday. A few pair of Gold Crowned Kinglets were busy doing their thing. Also saw a Tufted Titmouse in addition a pair of Mallard Ducks came to say hello.

The usual visitors were out and about as well.

A flock of 10 American Goldfinches appeared and went straight to the feeders. A lone Crow flew overhead with a lone Grackle after him. Soon more Grackles and even a Blue Jay joined the chase to drive him away.

Five Turkey Vultures cruised by as Tufted Titmice were chasing one another. Mr. House Sparrow flirted with his girl friend and invited her to his home. He danced and sang and she couldn't resist so she went to check out the furnishings.

Pair of White throated Sparrows appeared to be courting and the male House Wren has laid claim to 2 nest boxes ... as per usual. Several pair of Cardinals were bouncing around the ground and tree branches
Looks like the Starlings were shopping today as they were piling on the furnishings in their new home.

Was doing some spring clean-up in the garden and out hops a chubby toad from beneath a lovely rock. I promised his home would not be disturbed in the least and it wasn't. Can't lie to a chubby toad! Saw the Great Blue Herons flying south to the river. Later this afternoon they will fly over going north and will continue their schedule until late fall. Not *quite* sure but may have.seen the first Chimney Swifts ... but there wasn't the normal twittering so maybe they were Purple Martins.

Also had 3 of some kinda ducks fly over. Not sure who they were but they were in a hurry!

I think I mentioned everyone...

Missed mentioning the Mourning Doves marching.on the patio. Plus there are Bumble Bees the size of your fist. Well not quite but they seem HUGE! Lots of butterflies were out today, mostly the Cabbage White and some tiny blue guys whose name I always forget.

Also saw the first Salamander of the year ... rising out of a pond like Nessie then going back under. LOL!

Nice Photo!

The usuals as listed on top plus some Robins.

Saw a Robin chase off a Cooper's Hawk alone.

Was face to face with Mr. House Sparrow this afternoon as I was weeding the garden. I was motionless as he happily bounced about within touching reach!

First juveniles of the season....two young Blackbirds. Not sure which nest they are from, but they are already well grown. Didn't stay long enough for a piccie.:-C
