Jays, magpies, jackdaws, woodpigeons, chaffinches, robin, blackbirds today. Plus this chap who likes the peanut butter smeared on the silver birch! Well, the birds haven't gone near it (and it wasn't the value range either!).

That's a lovely picture, Kits. Never thought of using peanut butter for the birds (and squirrels), probably because I don't buy it!

I bought 2 new bird tables yesterday from a friend of my OH who lives in the village. Nothing too smart, but I hope that OH is going to help me fix them up today.....watch this space....;)

I don't buy peanut butter either, Kits & Wendy.
But the squirrel seems to like yours Kits :-O

Good luck with setting up the new tables, Wendy.

Usual birds here, not seen the Goldie, but I've been at work. OH says it has been here though.

I think it was Dan (Snowyowl) who gave the tip about peanut butter on branches, and I am sure Lydia mentioned it too. I bought it specially for the birds as we don't eat it either!

OH went mad this morning! There is a breech in the defences! He has got to check the boundaries as someone got into the back garden! :eek!: :eek!: :eek!:

Boys were back - the 4th one appeared a little later. Chaffinches, magpies, blackbirds, jays, blue tits and great tits so far today.

Oh! Dear, Kits.

Muntjac in the back.
What does the front lack.
That they can't get there?
Hope OH didn't swear?:-O:-O

Super photo's too.

On our travels today I have seen a lot of Buzzards, they were all perched on things too. A fence, several in trees, a bush, a post, but the strangest perch was a single very thin tree trunk, the tree must have died, somehow the Buzzard was clinging to the extreme tip on the top of it, on the edge of the main road, it looked a very uncomfortable perch. All these Buzzards were in an 11 mile stretch close to the road & all were very light phased, I think they could all be related.
We also saw many Canada Geese, in the field at the racecourse.

Good selection everyone. Has the fence been mended, Kits?

There are a lot of Buzzards around these parts too, Val and they vary from very light in colour to dark.

The garden was very busy all morning and these Goldfinches are some of at least six which I saw at the same time but I suspect there are a lot more around.

Lovely pictures of the Goldfinches, Wendy o:)

Looks frosty on the feeders, and it looks cold.

Ooooooooh! Goldies! Thanks for letting me have a peek, Wendy!

We can see where the fence has let in the muntjac - it is the neighbour's fence and it is in a state. I think when we get the terrace done, we shall have to ask our chap to put another fence inside our boundary.

So many rooks today! There must have been 30 or more on the lawn. A few blue tits, great tits, three male blackbirds, two jays, lots of woodies and a robin. And this little chap ...

Usual selection, but not in yesterday's numbers. Large flock of GBB Gulls flew over this afternoon, guess someone must be ploughing locally.

Usual gang today. A Bluetit was pecking at an apple I spiked on the tree until the Starlings frightened it off. The lone Waxwing I mentioned earlier is a regular morning visitor to the tree over the fence. It sits in the top branches looking around and preening.

A heron flew over the garden this afternoon, but since it didn't land, I cannot claim it visited! But a pair of greenfinches and a coal tit did pop in.

I think you can claim the Heron as a sighting, Kits, as you did see it & it could have been checking out your ponds.

Todays birds are......Chaffinch, Dunnock, Wren, first one I've seen for a while, Blackbird, Blue, Great & Coal Tits, Starlings, Jackdaws, Rooks, Herring Gull, Sparrows & Collared Doves.
The Goldfinch was in the garden, so as well as filling up the feeders, I put out the niger seed feeder. So far it has been ignored|=(|

There was a roe deer in the garden today. I missed it as OH didn't think to tell me until after it had gone!

We have the Goldfinch here & I have taken pics of it, but ruddy Photobucket is not playing so I can't edit it.:-C :C I hope to be able to post them at some stage today.
We also had the Blackcap briefly & the other usual suspects are still out there. We seem to have amassed a lot of Starlings, they are so noisy & quarreling like mad.
