A very busy day today, there was hardly a moment when there was not some sort of activity. Blackbirds, including one male with an almost white bill, Starlings, Woodies, Green, Chaff and Gold finches, Robin, Dunnock, Blue and Coal Tits, Pied Wagtails, Sparrows and Jackdaws.

The two new tables that I bought last week are now in operation. They are more than happy with the one out back, but the front one is causing them some concern. I think it is because a) it is near to the kitchen window and b) it is near to the pampas grass which has very tall plumes at the moment. The Blackies have ventured on, as has the Robin, but the Starlings seem very wary. No doubt they will accept it eventually.

Yes, they will, Wendy, it does take them a while to get used to something new. Once they all realise food is involved they'll be fine with it.

I am sure once they can see it isn't posing any threats, they will take to it, Wendy. I moved my fatball feeder from the back garden where it was ignored to one of the branches of the silver birch in the front, on Tuesday and just under 2 hours later it was visited by blue tits and greenfinches. However, it didn't seem to have much interest until this afternoon when the blue tits and great tits were queuing for it!

I was *thoroughly* scolded by the newest bird in the garden, the Carolina Chickadee, because HIS feeder had no nut mix and was empty. Didn't take him long to figure out they're in charge, did it?

The Downy and Red-headed Wps were waiting, along with the Black-capped Chickadees, Titmouse and the other regulars. They seemed pleased that the Carolina guy set me right. LOL!

Cheeky little things, Lydia!

Nothing unusual here today, but my robin decided to have a quick look in the kitchen window! Not the best photo, but he didn't stay for long enough for me to do anything other than point and shoot!

They certainly know who is in charge, Lydia!

Lucky you had your camera to hand, Wendy. :t:

Today we had 1 collared dove, 3 female and 1 male blackbirds, 1 thrush, 1 robin, only 1 magpie (which is unusual), lots of woodies, blue tits and great tits and 1 squirrel.

Awwww ... Wendy. That's a great picture of your Robin friend!

How is it that a 106 pound person can be just about ~bullied~ by a 3 ounce birdy?!?!?
Lemme tell you .... I was put in my place and will strive to be better every day!

Yes, Robins like to tell you when they want your full attention. The Robin in our garden likes to sit on anything that is lying or growing tall - the higher the better.

Sweet picture Wendy. Well done managing to photographing your little friend.

The Robin here is a mealworms guru, and if he does not have his mealworms he will sit a stare into any window of the house. Yes, he is the boss. :t:

Today we have, yes the lone Goldfinch, joined on the feeder by a lone Greenfinch, Coal, Great & Blue Tits. Blackbirds gallore. I guess they could be migrants too, like the Blackcap. Usual Corvids. Herring Gulls are still on the roof, noisy so & so's. No Winter Thrushes yet.

The garden has been particularly busy this morning. Coal tits, blue tits, great tits, lots of blackbirds (including 2 male juveniles), lots of woodies and rooks, a huge number of chaffinches (keeping my eyes peeled for bramblings with them - none so far!), 1 collared dove and the bullfinch pair was back!

There are so many Corvids in the Oak tree, the branches are bending. They are waiting for next door to put out the cat cruckles for them. There are 3 Herring Gulls on the roof waiting for the same thing. One, this years baby, is still trying to get a parent to feed it.

A busy morning in this garden and, for once, I was here to see and record some of the evidence. Just about everything, apart from the Coal Tit, has been in.

Photos show.....Starlings waiting in next door's tree to pounce, a Woodie enjoying one of the new tables, a Greenfinch taking seeds from the sunflower head and Goldies on the sunflower hearts. I also watched a very acrobatic Grey Squirrel in another tree next door. He was having no luck getting anything from their couple of feeders, but he has not, as yet, visited mine......;)

Three Goldfinches, is just plain greedy Wendy:-Oo:D Super photo's though. :t:
We still have just the one Goldie here, plus one Greenfinch. We have no Bullfinches, not even one.:-C This seems to be our bogey bird species now.

Not garden visitors, but as I was stuck in a Plymouth car park for a while, with Daughter, waiting for a recovery truck, her car had a flat tyre, there is no spare on an S Max:-C
I thought I'd see what was about. I was amazed, there in the heart of Plymouth, in the trees bordering the car park, I saw a flock of mixed Goldcrests & Long Tailed Tits, calling to each other as they flitted from tree to tree, a Robin, a Blackbird, several Sparrows, many feral Pigeons, Herring & Black Headed Gulls. One of the former landed on the roof of a stopped bus, it's panic as the bus pulled away, was amusing to watch.
I am usually too busy shopping to bird watch & I didn't realise there would be so many.

YIKES! We have a Carolina Wren ( Thryothorus ludovicianus). They are delightful little guys who eat insects. No insects out now so he was eating some moistened dry dog food I had put out for the Starlings.
