Message: <blockquote data-quote="Capercaillie71" data-source="post: 1447193" data-attributes="member: 32437"><p>I have also recently been colonised by tree sparrows - they certainly seem to be increasing in numbers in NE Scotland.  The first two appeared in March 2008 and I put up one nest box straight away.  A great tit nested in the box and the Tree Sparrows disappeared until November, when they reappeared and I put up three boxes (with 28mm holes) close to each other.  Blue tits and great tits will not occupy boxes so close together, but tree sparrows like to nest in colonies.  Early this year the tree sparrow numbers increased to 4 and I have seen them perched next to my new nest boxes calling loudly, so I am hopeful of nesting this year.  I'll keep you posted and fingers crossed for yours.</p></blockquote><p></p>
