Tripod for ATS 80 (1 Viewer)

I’m looking for information regarding recommendations for a “lighter” tripod/head for an ATS 80. I sometimes hike a mile or two to get to a spot, so weight becomes important. Thanks for any assistance!

I've got a similar scope in size and weight......a Zeiss 85T*FL.

I've tried several aluminium tripods which were a bit to heavy for long distance treks and now have settled on a Benro HFTA28S4 carbon fibre, twist lock - 6 section with a fluid head and ball head adjustment. The head & tripod weigh about 4 lbs ....9 lbs with the scope. Benro do a selection of tripods and heads at very competitive prices. Go for a fluid head as you need to be able to pan, tilt and lock easily. Swarovski do a super fluid head with one movement pan and tilt lock but it's pricey. Benro also has the ball head so that you don't have to adjust the legs to keep the scope straight.....It's done with the ball adjustment and bubble leveler.

Here are a couple of pics so you can see how it looks.

By the way it might be worth getting the Olivon Podtrek backpack which really helps to carry it all, so that you are set up to go with the scope attached to the tripod on an arca Swiss QR plate.

Great set-up. What tripod and head is that? Thanks.

Thats the ATX95 on a Swarovski CT101 Tripod and Head that is kind of dedicated use for the Swarovski lineup... There is now a newer and updated version out now..I paid about $850.00 for mine about 2 years ago..
