Two fuzzy birds (Virginia, September 2021) (1 Viewer)

Hi, I took these the last few days, apologies for the poor quality.

I think both are warblers. Picture 1 was taken in Shenandoah National Park, elevation >1,000m. Picture 2 was taken in the Piedmont (Prince William County).

I am a bit stumped -- fall warblers, you know.

Can someone please help!

Not easy due to the angle of viewing but I would say female Black-throated Blue and juvenile Cape May.

1. I agree female-type black-throated blue warbler: head-pattern, tail-pattern, and uniform pale underparts with whitish undertail-coverts are all right, and that combination seems to match nothing else.

Agree on #1 being BT Blue, for the fine reasons stated above. #2 is Pine for me, the first mark against Cape May being the near lack of streaking underneath. Cape May's eye-ring typically doesn't pop this much either, while Pine has this as a primary feature. Its coloration (very brown above, a bit more tan below) and 2 large wing-bars leave few other options.
