Is this a Goshawk?
Photo is full size as taken, it was a long way off!

Sparrowhawk. Square tail corners a good starter, but also small size, Gos would look longer tailed with a broader hip and bulging secondaries

Thanks ever so much gents, you have made my day. I was on the right track for a change with the wing shape, just fooled by the size of the bird! Starting to get a bit better at this ID thing.
Even better though is that the Sparrowhawk is a lifer and that, along with a Raven a few minutes after the shot was taken, gives me a very pleasing 2 for a day.
Really appreciate it gents.
Ken
