Dominique, If I were you I'd just think through all the anti-Brit statements you're making. You seem to have forgotten that UP only got going because Brit birders recognised the opportunity and booked out the first boat (after Brit birders discovered the potential of the bay from ferries in the first place :-)). I recall very few continental birders on that boat, 10 in total maybe? Don't think you were there, were you? The top and bottom of is that British birders supported the venture, but when it turned out to not offer great value & live up to billing (and was cetacean rather than bird foucsed), we didn't go back. Maybe we're spoilt with the riches of birding in the UK, but for 6 days hols and £350+, I don't think it's too much to ask for some quality birding return; we can get it for that return elsewhere; on the second full day on the first UP I went 3 hours mid-afternoon birding without seeing a single bird!! I'd stop having a go at Brit birders if I were you, as you're comments don't make sense, especially as you were not there on the first boat. Anyway, promoting the "Ultimate" Pelagic is where it all went wrong. 2 hours of Kaikoura and then you're talking....
