I think that this thread has caused too much unintended distress or as stated 'fun' for some. As stated initially the bird was distant. Photographing it was the sensible option as I did not have binoculars at hand and my camera was already turned on. As knowbody was present any opinions were and are appreciated. If not to identify the bird to simply see what others with an interest in birds think. As for the photograph, the pole it perched on is thick as it was closer to the base of the telephone tower. I would say 25cm or so wide but this is a rough guess as you can't get within very close range of the tower due to it being gated off. Unfortunately hamsteadheath is not my local park and my soonest free time will be used to go Rainham Marshes. I can attempt to photograph a different bird on the tower but it will be in the near future and this post is likely to have lost its initial interest. The comments helpful or not have been appreciated and thankyou for those who attempted the impossible!</p></blockquote><p></p>
