Hi,

Spotted this but don’t know what it is. Can anyone help?

It has been making the attached sound for a couple of days.

Thanks,
Alan

Can't help with the bird but a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum (y)
We're glad you found us and please join in wherever you like ;)

Hi Alan and a warm welcome from me too.

Hmmmm.... I'm struggling with that one too. Strange. Can you describe the habitat around?

All things Scottish can be found here. Also, keep an eye on threads titled something like Scottish Bashes; we try to meet up occasionally and they're always great fun. You'd be most welcome to join us on another if you can manage.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

That did go through my mind, but I've not heard that song from them.

I’m generally pretty bad with songs and calls and greenfinch have quite a variety. I’m fairly used to them now but they can be surprising if you’re not used to them

The pale leading edge of the wing helps point to Greenfinch. In some light the colours look strange, but they always have a paler (yellow) edge to a darker (green) wing. PS welcome to the BF Alan!
