The Big Three 0' target hit today! My garden list has now hit 30 species thanks to the arrival of a Green Woodpecker. It surveyed the garden from the treetop twice today, I nearly missed the second visit as I inadvertently flushed it. The rest of today's visitors were equally bright & bold, with a return visit from 2 male Bullfinches and a pair (m/f) of Great Spotted Woodpeckers and the arrival of m/f Siskins. I notice the Siskins have arrived 5 days earlier than last year, but pretty close in dates. The SongThrush has gained confidence & now feeds alongside the Blackbirds & of course the star attraction Grey Wagtail. I noticed the G'Wag had long periods of rest today. Do they rest? If so, that would suggest some effort involved in wagging. Maybe I should describe it as "still" for long periods. I must read up on that. Maurice, your post also triggered mixed emotions, I felt so sad when I read it, my dodgy hip prevents me from visiting the Dartford Warbler site at Kenfig due to the 3 styles, but that's small fry compared to your limitations. I'm glad you still feel part of Birdwatching by reflecting on your own experience. Thank you for your lovely kind comments. The LTT's are feeding on the breadcrumb, cheese & sultana mix Rose, all the Birds are getting stuck in. I think the very cold weather attracted them initially as they were unable to forage. I notice the Goldcrest & female Blackcap have moved on since the thaw. The 9 Ltt's are still visiting 4xdaily. Last year they seemed to flock toward the suet blocks, which also attracts the GS'Woodpeckers. It's all about Bill's "L" Rose lol! Thank you both for your kind contributions. a few thru the window pics, sorry about the pic quality of the GW, hopefully it will return. ttfn
