Personally I wouldn't worry too much about it, I used non-waterproof scopes for over fifteen years without a problem. Another scope to look at is the Pentax ED65A, I recently tested one and was very impressed. At £599 including a zoom eyepeice and SOC it's a very good buy, though I don't know if it's waterproof. I tested it with a couple of fixed astro eyepeices (~£80 each) and the image was amazing.</blockquote>
