Just over half way through February and the monthly list has crawled to a pathetic 71 species. Amongst the possible list of additions for the remaining 13 days of the month are:

Barnacle Goose, Pintail, Mandarin, Goldeneye, Red Kite, Peregrine, Merlin, Avocet, Golden Plover, Dunlin, Jack Snipe, Woodcock, Med Gull, Common Gull, GBB Gull, Yellow-legged Gull, Tawny Owl, Little Owl, Collared Dove, Feral Pigeon, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Meadow Pipit, Grey Wagtail, Stonechat, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Rook, House Sparrow, Linnet, Yellowhammer

The average February total over the last 5 years has been 86.2 species with a high of 92 in 2016 and a low of 83 in both 2014 and 2015.

I had 2 Rook over the Sailing Pool on the 9th.

Barn Owl again at the Flashes this evening showed from 5:52pm for 5 minutes before flying towards the Sailing Centre as per Hughie King and Kevin Wardlow.

Barn Owl briefly at 06.56, 5 Avocet, 2 Green Sandpiper, 12 Curlew, Oystercatcher, 636 Lapwing, Little Egret, Gadwall, 20 Siskin, 2 Cetti's Warbler, 770 Black-headed Gull (320 roosting)

Sailing Pool-

Great Crested Grebe, Tufted Duck, Coot and Black-Headed Gull.

The Flashes-

3 Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Mallard, Moorhen, Buzzard, Kestrel, 1 Peregrine, 5 Avocet, 1 Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Woodpigeon, Stock Dove, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Magpie, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Robin, Dunnock, Wren, Starling, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Goldfinch, Bullfinch and 2 Reed Bunting.

Also seen was a Red Fox crossing the road by the sewage works.

Work Party Moors

We are having a day off tomorrow. We will resume next Tuesday 27th February at the Moors.
Work will include:-
Screening around the new hide
Bringing tern rafts in for repair.
Installing gull rail North Moors.
