From the Flashes early morning Andy P reports:

Barn Owl hunting the southern end for about 10 minutes from 0645, drake Mandarin Duck briefly - last seen 0715, single Avocet still and 12 Curlew.

From the Flashes early morning Andy P reports:

Barn Owl hunting the southern end for about 10 minutes from 0645, drake Mandarin Duck briefly - last seen 0715, single Avocet still and 12 Curlew.

From the Flashes Andy further reported:

Stonechat juvenile again, 66 Lapwing, 74 Teal, 40 Shoveler, Tufted Duck, 2 Little Grebe, Little Egret, 2 Raven, 4 Jay.

Common Sandpiper this evening as per Tim.

At the Moors Pool today Andy P reported:

Drake Mandarin, 21 Snipe, 88 Lapwing, 20 Shoveler, 10 Gadwall, 22 Teal, 22 Tufted Duck, 6 Little Grebe, 5 Mute Swan, 2 Mistle Thrush.

Little Egret and Common Sandpiper later as per Tim.

Barn Owl again for 6 minutes from 0638, lone Avocet still, 15 Curlew, 4 Roe Deer at top of the ploughed field at Hobden Hall farm.

HEN HARRIER was seen to fly off south at Flashes at 12.40
PLEASE NOTE
SAILING POOL CAR PARK is CLOSED at 4pm
This starts from 1st OCTOBER through to MARCH.

Harrier last seen at 12:40pm flying south over Sagebury Farm but could obviously return.

Please note that the Sailing Centre car park officially shuts at 4pm since Tuesday - to avoid the possibility of being locked in please park at either Webbs Garden Centre or the Moors Pool and walk.

If the bird returns and a key holder is on site later this thread will be updated.

Hen Harrier pictures

Photographs taken this morning of the ringtail Hen Harrier at The Flashes . It then appeared briefly at The Moors before seemingly heading back towards The Flashes

1 Dunlin, 1 Avocet, 5 Snipe and 7 Curlew at the Flashes this morning as per Phil W.

15 Snipe at the Moors Pool as per Carl J.

A late afternoon / evening session by JTB at the Flashe's produced:

Teal 132, Shoveler 33, Gadwall 6, Little Grebe 2, Coot 53, Water Rail 3, Curlew 15, Common Sandpiper, Dunlin, Avocet, Lapwing 60, Snipe 12, Kestrel, Hobby, Barn Owl at 7pm, Chiffchaff 2, Blackcap, Cetti's Warbler 2.

Another impressive roost - Black-headed Gull 1800, adult Yellow-legged Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull 2200+, Herring Gull c1200, Common Gull 6, possible adult Baltic Gull.
