Upton Warren (16 Viewers)

For those of you who keep an Upton list please note that the lumping of Redpolls into a single species is now ratified by the BOU so the reserve total reduces by one.

Unsurprisingly quiet at Moors & Sailing Pools this afternoon, with both waters c.95% frozen,
The latter held only the resident pair of Mute Swans & a couple of L.Egrets came in to roost whilst I was there.
My highlight at the Moors was a Nuthatch & a small flock of Redpolls at the hide end of the east track. Most duck numbers were down but the Mallard count was up to 142+ (plus 12-15 farmyard-cross birds) and there were 51 Teal.

48 species for the morning ,4 more for the annual count .Highlights 8 Greenfinch on flashes boardwalk, single Curlew, pr GSW.
Moors Yellow Legged Gull (thanks Dave), male Wigeon, pr Stonechat, Siskin and Redpoll in with a large flock of Goldfinch, pr Yellowhamer
