Heres the ones I haven't seen Golden P, Woodcock, Avo, Oyc, Barn owl, Gos, Pintail, GBBG, Little Gull, Nuthatch, chiff, goldcrest, Grey wag, Mpipit, yellowhammer + Red kite and little owl 17 + 71

You've missed Gadwall too (unless I'm much mistaken) - Phil Quiney had a drake about 3 weeks ago. I searched everywhere for it on the Moors - to no avail!

Little Gull?

I don't know why im getting so competitive I'll probably only be able to get down about twice after october when I go to uni so I stand no chance really!

Yes Gordon had one on the 12th Jan after their work party at the Moors.
After October Tim there shouldn't be that many new species, Goldeneye maybe. February and so much movement can't wait until March and April let alone May. I think the more extensive coverage this year is already starting to pay dividends. With Tim and Craig there all school holiday times could be a record year;);)

Nice pictures Dave. The Golden Plover didn't return and I stayed until dark but there was a good sized flock of Lapwing on the top field opposite so may have been with them. Discovered this evening that I hadn't counted Green Woodpecker so now up to 70..

Cheers Gert. Shame you didn't see it. We would've phoned you quicker only none of us had your mobile number - Mike got it off John in the end. Wasn't easy to see when it went off into the top fields. Better luck next time.

Haha - its all good fun. Its actually making me appreciate the commoner species that aren't so common at Upton if you see what I mean, so long may it continue!

Getting back to more mundane things I have surfed over a few county sites and apart from one at Marshide Lancs the only other Avo away from wintering sites is ours from what I can see.

By the looks of all these lists I think I've missed more than I've seen:-C

Good job I went both days over the weekend, and added eight species, otherwise I'd be pathetically low. I'm missing:

Gadwall, Pintail, Goshawk, Red Kite, Kestrel!, Woodcock, Little Gull, Common Gull, GBBG, Barn Owl, Tawny Owl, Little Owl, Skylark, Grey Wagtail, Meadow Pipit, Cetti's Warbler, Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Treecreeper, Nuthatch (?), Raven, Siskin, Yellowhammer

That's 23. So assuming they have all been recorded, added to my total of 67 gives 90 for the year?

Think I might find it difficult to get Gos back and Woodcock is also likely to be a problem, but all the others are still possible and a Red Kite would be a patch tick!!

Do I detect a slight hint of skepticism there, Mike - that's not like you!;):-O

Not sure what the 90th species is then - I've accounted for all of the above (I think). You're not counting Feral Pigeon are you?:-O:-O

I thought you must've had Skylark on the Trust walkabout day - there seemed to be quite a few flying over that day.

For once not being sceptical at all, genuinely not sure what's on the list so far this year. Having just checked my notes (I posted earlier from work so was not 100% on everything) I find you are right, I did see Skylark on 17th Jan so I agree with the list being 89.:t: Still don't think I have Grey Wag tho'.

Cheers

Don'y worry mate - it's the dementia again! I guess I'll be the same when I get to your age.;) I'm surprised you don't remember the Grey Wag though as you did say to me 'Grey Wag for the year-list' as it flew over!:-O:t: (Just checked my notes - it was on the 3rd January)

As it's you Gert, I'll overlook that accusation:t:

I heard someone refer to you as a 'dude' the other day - I guess they meant "jolly nice fellow!":-O
