[URGENT] Baby common swift (1 Viewer)

I found a baby common swift in the middle of the street today and I waited to see if it's parents would come but nothing, so I took him because I didn't want him to get run over by a car or eaten by another animal.

I need to know what I can feed him, it said it eats small incests but can I cut up small fruits and feed it to him?? How often does he have to eat?? Any information would be helpful thanks!!

HI Luccilus and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

We have some general guidelines here for the care of injured and baby birds. Swifts would never be found on the ground, so there is something wrong if you do come across one grounded. An adult is unable to take flight from the ground.

They do not eat fruit but insects. Small amounts of cat food are a reasonable substitute.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news. Please let us know how you get on.

You might want to try and contact a local rehabber or a vet that can refer you to someone. Good luck Luccilus.
