Urgent Help/Advice Requested! (1 Viewer)

Hello! Apologies if I am posting this to the wrong place.

We have had a next in one of our planters on our balcony (second floor apartment building) for a few weeks. The babies are getting pretty big but don't seem big enough to leave the nest. I accidentally scared the babies and two of them flew out but can't fly away. We're not sure what to do, should we try to capture them and put them back in the nest? Both Mom and Dad bird are coming back and still seem to be trying to feed them. I'm panicking and don't want them to die! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Put some gloves on and gently put them back in their nest although if the parents are feeding them while they are on the ground I don't think you have to worry about moving them back.

I would leave them alone. The parents know where they are and will continue to care for them. The best thing would be to stay away from the balcony until they have fledged.

Yes, they've "exploded" from the nest, a defence stratergy when disturbed/ threatened. Just keep cats, racoons and other predators away for a couple of days.
