Vancouver Island, Canada: Recording of Ruby Crowned Kinglet? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

as a newbie bird-watcher (or listener), I have quite some trouble memorizing bird songs and calls. The learning curve is steep, but there is slowly some success with the most common birds here on Vancouver Island. But for now, I heavily rely on visual cues to identify birds.

The other day I was able to record a mystery bird. I use the app BirdNET from time to time, which is surprisingly accurate sometimes. For the attached recording, the app suggests a Ruby Crowned Kinglet. I compared that to other recordings of this bird, but I am not fully convinced. Something seems off...

Can anybody help?

Thank you and have a good day,
JP
