Very busy at the bird feeder today! (2 Viewers)

Fairly quiet at the feeders the last couple of days - mild and sunny so there are still lots of insects around for the birds to feed on.

Visitor numbers seem to be up a little today as it's a bit colder. I'm trying out our old 'ground' feeder at about 1.3m above ground level [cats] and the blue tits seem to approve.

My fat balls are very popular

Put 7 homemade fatballs out in my garden this morning, wife informs me they had practically all gone by noon.

On my way to work i put ten fat balls in feeders on my local patch feeding station which i run myself and on my way home this afternoon both feeders were empty.

Thank goodness the Co-op have just dropped their price of Lard by 20p a block......

.. and you do well for a dingle too.

Now, let's stop this before it gets out of hand. Lol

the bait as been taken :-O shame on you :-O

the highlight this afternoon

24 goldfinches
18 house sparrows
8 starlings
6 collard doves

the fatballs are no more devoured by the sparrows and starlings.

OH has just collected a parcel from the neighbours a couple of doors down and she was reliably informed they have 'a couple of black-headed tits nesting at the moment'. Should I put this into the Rare Birds thread:-O

A very cold wind and heavy showers here today meant the feeders were, as the thread title says, very busy. Not necessarily any more birds than normal, just that they were visiting more frequently and fighting for ports.

On a non-garden related vein, I've finally beaten my Tree Sparrow bogie - at least 2 seen today. Well worth suffering the biting wind and horizontal rain / hail. Anyone got any Lemsips?;)

really the first daylight I have seen this week so was nice to catch up on the garden very early this morning, the highlights are:

13 Greenfinch
Wren
4 Mallard over
4 Lesser Redpoll.... now 6
5 LBB Gulls over
127 Woodpigeon heading south plus another 100+ heading SE, and 30 more
4 female and 1 male Chaffinch

I even enjoyed watching 2 Squirrels playing tag up and down the feeders trees, across the lawn, through the patio....you get the picture

other usual suspects in and out as usual
