Very accurate;)

lol.... although it is true

Didnt quite have the time to accuratly count the 100+ before they were out of clear view ;) I will try harder next time

Counting large flocks of Woodpigeon is still easier than trying to accuratly count the Blue tits that are darting all over the garden ..... aprox 6 today I think :-O

Filled the feeders twice over the weekend, but wasn't around to see what was emptying them :-O

Did have to pick the bird table up on Sunday morning, after the comedy wind and rain of Saturday.

Just wanted to remind everyone to clean your feeders out, I did mine yesterday and it was pretty grim stuff, one of them had small yellow things in which looked like some kind of maggots, ugh!

OH has just collected a parcel from the neighbours a couple of doors down and she was reliably informed they have 'a couple of black-headed tits nesting at the moment'. Should I put this into the Rare Birds thread:-O

hahaha, reminds me of my old neighbour reporting she'd seen green tits in the hedge at the back!

It's just starting to get cold here in Houston, though we haven't had any frost yet. Lots of interesting birds have arrived in our area but none of them have yet made it to my yards. It's quiet where I work, too, although a Red-shouldered Hawk moved in recently and lets me get very close.

I'll be visiting London over Xmas. Mainly family stuff, of course, but I should get to do a little birding, probably in Lea Valley. It'll be a big change from birding here in the USA.

I am looking for advice. We have a Schwegler Woodcrete Sparrow Terrace in which a number of house sparrow broods were raised this year. It is sheltered by a grape vine in which sparrows roost overnight but now the leaves have gone they are taking interest in the terrace again.

Question: Knowing that the nests in the terrace are likely to be infested should I remove them now or leave them as bedding material over the winter?

I would leave it as the next inhabitants will know if it needs renewing.
