Light fading but a lone Buzzard is circling above... as low as I have seen one over the garden

Always a good bird to see, even better over the garden.:t:

Both myself and OH have been hearing an unusual call over the last few days. I've finally pinned it down to a Sparrowhawk, never heard it until this week.

Weather wise ..... its a wash out

Couldn't agree more. I was going to head my local patch today, but thought better of it. The outlook isn't the best either:C

As for the garden, few visits, although Lesser Redpolls up to 5. I've noticed the birds heading to the garden 3 houses along the street. Looks like a trip to the garden centre is on the cards...

the birds have been blown away i think, garden deserted!!

the've probably been blown 3x gardens up:-O

We've had the GS Woodpecker several times today again. He's happy to gorge on the fat balls when he can't get onto the suet block.Still have numerous Starlings Jackdaws 2x Doves, 2x Chaffinch, 2x Robins ,3x Goldfinch, 5x LTT 6x BT 4x GT and numerous sparrows and dunnock

Luckily our feed area is very sheltered in a corner with 2x Lilac trees and several bushes so there is plenty of shelter from the worse of the weather.

Funny how the Goldfinch all decide to come together then spend 10x minutes fighting each other on the heart feeders

you'll have to don your camo gear and recce their garden under cover of darkness to see what feed your neighbours are using

Bananafishbones

Incoherently Rambling .....
;) Cant blame this one on the cold weather conditions

Reed Bunting male just been in the feeder tree - first since April 2nd

How about this for a species list currently sat in the tree:
Reed Bunting, Redwing, Lesser Redpoll, Blue - Great - Coal tits, Chaffich, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Magpie

I've always wondered what that was all about too|:||

I can see the feeders and the only thing they have out which I don't is peanuts - although I have peanut cake out. I think the birds prefer their non-squirrel proof feeders. I can't afford not to protect mine.

I got a large tub of fat balls when shopping yesterday, placed out this morning but little interested so far.

My plastic feeders do not seem to last that long, so now trying a metal style one.

Does anyone else have picky birds, that will only take seed from upper ports on feeders? I am reluctant to fill the feeders up til they have taken most of the seed from the bottom as it just rots away while the new stuff gets taken. Maybe I'm being too much of a Dad and making them eat their greens before they have their ice cream.
