Woke up to a young male robin at my bedroom window feeder happily chirping
Sunflower hearts have been disappearing at ever higher rates - I suspected squirrels but haven't seen any since early August (chilli powder :t. Starting to think it's just down to sheer number of bird visits, like this -

I haven't taken any back garden pics recently but it seems to be an almost constant stream of blue and great tits, plus nuthatches.
Had a greenfinch pose for loads of photos on the 5th, this is one of my favourites (with a happy blue tit with peanut prize) -

Here's a young male house sparrow who kindly posed in our bay 'tree' before coming in to feed -

"And finally ..." not the greatest buzzard photo in the world, but it's the best I've managed. So far.

At least you can tell it's a bird this time![]()
You could well be right. Here the sparrows are by far the dominant species but I've noticed how aggressively a solitary greenfinch will defend a perch at the seed feeder. The majority of times they'll hold their own against a mob of local house sparrows - it's not that often a greenfinch will be forced to give up it's place at the feeder.I have never had one of the many resdient housesparrows on any of the feeders ...
... I wonder if its because of the Greenfinch being the more dominant species?
The Starlings are back, decimating the peanut cake in minutes. This is the third year that they have disappeared from spring to autumn, just following the first appearance of juveniles.
