Hi, if you had a chance to try them both, please let me know which one you liked best and why (pros & cons): I'm seriously considering to buy one of them. Thank you 👍

Heads up Dennis - this is the DBA VHD not the BGA VHD. I made the same error in Guilhem's prior post - I've never seen the BGA VHD, but have had very positive impressions of the DBA VHD(+) when I've seen it in life.

There are 2 binoculars: one is DBA VHD, the other is Imagic BGA VHD. The DBA VHD is available in 8x42 and 10x42 only, and the best binoculars made by Opticron.
The Imagic BGA is available in 10x50 as well, and is slightly less good than the DBA VHD.

I made up my mind, I'll try the Viper.
Hopefully, I won't need to come back and ask more advice :)
Will let you know how it goes.
Thank you everybody for your valuable help :)

Did you get the Vortex Viper HD 10x50? Let us know how you like it?
I got a Viper HD 10x50 (2018, the last version) and I'm frankly quite impressed. I'm still getting to know it and using it under different conditions, but I must say it has fulfilled my expectations and then some. As soon as I've put it through its paces I'll made a review in the Vortex sub-forum. But so far so good.

AFAIK any of the third party options shipped from Amazon should have the regular Amazon return policy.
Interesting, I'm going to check that!
It's more expensive on Amazon but I would rather pay more, and be sure to be refunded if I don't like them. Thanks!

Actually, it won't protect me more in the case of third parties:

"Please note that you must return each item in the same condition in which you received it. This means that new items must be returned unused and undamaged. Used items must not have any additional signs of use or damage."

Which is the same when Amazon sell stuff to you but the difference is Amazon won't annoy me, contrary to 3rd parties.

Birds? What Birds?!
Distance selling regulations allow you to check and test items to the same extent as you would in a shop/showroom - the wording is that you need "to take reasonable care of them". This applies as much to market place sellers as it does to Amazon itself or any other supplier that takes an order over the phone or via the internet.

You will find some retailers offer optics on an approval or trial basis which provides another level of confidence in the ability to check, test and return although that is not protected in law.

Amazon offers returns up to 30 days from delivery date but the regulations only require 28 days (14 days from conclusion of contract to give notice of cancellation, 14 days in which to return the item). It also makes this specific statement in relation to the state of any goods being returned - "You may be liable if the value of the goods returned diminishes due to the handling of the goods (except when it was necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods)."

Cheers, Pete

I ruled out the Vortex Viper HD 10x50 because the view was too shaky. I like the binos though, so now I want 8x42 binoculars.
I'm hesitating between Vortex Viper HD 8x42 (500£) and Opticron DBA VHD+ 8x42 (600£).
