Wader ID Please, shot taken at RSPB Leighton Moss Lancashire UK today 19/08/2019. They were saying in the hide that it was a Curlew Sandpiper but I am not sure.

That's a Dunlin I'm afraid.

Head pattern would be much more striking on Curlew Sandpiper, with a more delicate spotting on upper breast with peachy or reddish tones (juv vs adult). Bill often more decurved than Dunlin, but not always, and can be dependent on racial ID of Dunlin.

Always good to question the general murmur around the hide. You often get groupthink and some of the loudest and surest are also the wrongest.
