Saw this wader this morning and it was some distance away so snapped a few quick record shots to study when home - in the field I assumed (in line with other’s synopsis of birds present) Wood Sandpiper, although it didn’t feel quite right, and now I look again, it really doesn’t! The bill length and profile is more in line with the bird I was actually after.

Any suggestions from these distant dodgy shots please?

Indeed I was, but the whole bird didn’t give me the feeling of one of those either - I think most Greenshank I have seen have had more of a stouter upturned bill than this one, hence my puzzlement and dismissal of that species, even though having seen some and easily ID’d at greater distance the week before! - funny how the mind works when trying to find something else - not seen Marsh before, but viewing a fair few photos the Jizz is entirely different I see. Thanks.

The Wood Sandpiper was down the opposite end to this near 3 breeding- plumaged Dunlin when I was there mid morning.

The Marsh Sandpiper relocated to Blue House Farm EWT at North Fambridge.

I got the Dunlin, but the Wood Sand eluded me - I did see a report come out later, but I had decided to go for the Purple Heron so was a few miles away, lovely bird.
