Wanted: Leica APO Televid 77 eye-cup (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

During a birding trip, we lost the eye-cup of our Televid 77. The eye-piece was already loose and a bit broken and Leica could not fix it, so we bought a new scope. However, the old Televid 77 has lots of sentimental value for my husband.

So I am looking for a second hand eye piece, preferably within the European Union, for a reasonable price, either the zoom or the 32.

I would appreciate any info on where I can find it, thanks a lot!

Teresa

Can I also get a lead? Been looking all over for one (see other post). I bought a whole new oculair but I'd like to fix the old one.

At one point I got a free replacement eye cup (can't remember which model) from Leica. I think on the quiet they have realised that they are very poorly designed and prone to breakages. Might be worth ringing them and asking nicely about a replacement.

I tried the other day and Leica are saying they no longer service the APO 62. As I think the eyepiece is the same as the APO 77, I suspect Leica can no longer help.

Rather frustrating, as I love the scope and it is great for travel - the only thing wrong is a flimsy bit of plastic, prone to cracking. Seems a travesty to write off a scope and buy new because of a lack of a replacement part, which probably only costs a few pounds to manufacture.

I decided to sell on my Leica APO 62mm, but was at East Coast Binocular Repairs this Monday.

While I was there, I was chatting about how fragile the Leica eyecups are. The owner told me he had the eyecups in stock for the 62mm (and therefore presumably the 77mm which uses the same lens) - actually he had had some spares made up specially.

The ECBR website suggests that they only do Zeiss repairs, but if you have a broken twist-up eyecup it may be worth giving ECBR a call, to see if they can assist.
