Warbler ID - Karoo NP, South Africa, August (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I saw this presumed warbler on a visit to the Karoo National Park in South Africa, late August 2016. This photo has always had me stumped as I recall seeing a Namaqua Warbler at the same time, which this doesn't appear to be. Unless it's a skulking tree-dwelling pipit, I'm a bit stumped and haven't reached any conclusions looking through the SASOL Birds Of South Africa guide.

Many thanks,

Paul

If I've found the right site on ebird (Karoo NP), it looks like African Pipit and Plain-backed Pipit also get reported there. I think pale lower mandible rules out African Rock Pipit. I'd start with African Pipit and see if you can eliminate that first... But then again I'm rubbish at Pipits!
