I tried to get closer but it flew off not to be seen again this day. I thought it might be an Ash-throated flycatcher being that I see them regularly here (but are larger). I consoled myself with getting some great shots of a Hermit Thrush and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers which I will posting to the gallery. Once I downloaded my pixs from this AM I believe that I was lucky and the shots I got are of are my original mystery bird. These are not great but they full side & rear shots so maybe a definitive ID can be made. I cropped & resized to fit the upload and noticed that one shot clearly indicates a light colored lower beak.
New Pictures! I went back to the same spot that I saw the original bird and waited around for some time at some distance away. I spotted a bird but it flew off but landed about 150' away in a small scrub tree facing towards the morning sun. I walked over and got some shots at a distance hoping that it might be the same bird (I don't carry binoculars being that my camera & lens weights 10 lbs and I'm not really a birder anyway -- my thrill is in getting up close & personal for the best shots possible). Memse. (Funny, when I uploaded my pixs, the program reduced them all from around 290K to less then 50K except for the last).
