Was the Golden Eagle ever chosen at Scotland's National Bird? (1 Viewer)

In reading something this morning, I saw a reference to there being a move afoot, about 7ish years ago, to have the Golden Eagle declared as the National Bird of Scotland.

Where does that stand now? Did it happen? Was it defeated?

Thanks

It is listed as being so, but no legal status, per Wiki'. Therefore I pass. Same situation with the United Kingdom - European Robin. At least Golden Eagle is a real species, unlike Scotland's national animal.
