Wasp issue . . . (1 Viewer)

Hi there. Bit of an odd thing to bounce off folks.

Have had a barn swallow nest up high in eaves outside or exterior door and fledglings too off today. Back late in day all snug, but I'm suspecting just a matter of a few more days.

Now, with this absurd heat wave hitting us here out at the edge of the Canadian prairie, in the past 24 hours a massive amount of paper wasps now across a good part of the south brick exterior wall common to that of the nest. Wasps pushing up into the soffit, and along edges of picture windows. And they are getting agressive today by the hour. Brutal. Watching the birds, I don't see any wasps landing on nest/birds or attacking them - I've never saw that ever over the years, but they are flying in close at times and the birds are taking notice and backing up a bit. Again . . . brutal to observe.

Any other time, I'd be out blasting this kind of threat with some Wasp/Hornet spray, but with the nest there not so quick on that approach.

So might be having to put up with these damn wasps for a week or so and then deal with them after the birds are gone for good, but any other suggestions on this?

Thanks
