Waxwings Batley to Burnley - same bird? (1 Viewer)

One of the waxwings originally at ikea had a noticeable white splodge on the wing as seen in Den's photo http://www.birdforum.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=123093&d=1201379297 I noticed when I was there that neither of the two birds had this patch (or I didn't notice it). Then there are pictures of the Burnley birds(on birdgiudes http://www.birdguides.com/pictures/default.asp?f=160653&r=0&st=0&v=0&q= ) and one has this patch. BF member Lawts did notice three birds so maybe one has scarpered to the dark side and left his mates in God's country.

Any thoughts?

Den was up there taking photos the day after Lawts saw three birds and by then there were only two. It's only ruffled feathers though isn't it? Mine on the left has a couple on the breast and was taken at the same time as Dens.

The 'white splodge' on the wing and flank was a result of a combination of zealous preening and humungous wind blatting up Oakwell Way I'm afraid Marcus. Keeping the camera still was an exercise in itself!! A good theory though.

Thought that could be the case!
It was windy when I was there too, a great pic Den considering.
