About one week ago we only had a few reports of Waxwings here, with few flocks with few birds. The biggest flock I saw was of 25 birds...
But now! Almost overnight they appeared, and now they're EVERYWHERE. Loads of smaller flocks of maybe 30-60 birds, and I've had several flocks of 100-200 birds... the largest reported in the city was of 900 Waxwings! It's like they've magically appeared and brightened up the winter with their silvery-clear calls. I can't go anywhere by bike without hearing them or seeing a flock fly by. Feeling so happy now, I just love those birds. It's not a real winter without them... o
