Looks as though it's going to be a sunny Monday! Frosty, less breezy and the sun is on the way.

Off to see what's in for breakfast.

December Weather. 2008.

A cold start to December. It is at present -3.8c and a sharp frost this morning.

Not a lot of birds in the garden yet even though their ground food has been out for over an hour. A couple of Magpies have been to and fro and 6 Woodpigeons stayed awhile. The Robin is guarding his territory but not vocally!

Not so far away from you in the East Midlands it is a similar story. November went out with dampness, grey and that miserable kind of cold, to let in December with a crisp, sunny and cheerful kind of cold. The sky is blue, the light is golden and the top of the pond has a thin layer of ice. And the Blackbird hovered around waiting for the ground food.

Below freezing in Donny, but nice and bright. Had a few Goldfinches and a couple of Greenfinches on the feeders thus far, with a couple of Blackbirds and a Dunnock feeding on the ground. Beginning to cloud over as I write.

Ooooops!!! Sorry, Pam, forgot that you were starting this thread and I added mine to the old one......must have got up a bit too early. ;)

Frosty, sunny and less windy start to the month.

Usual mixture of visitors this morning. Most interesting has been watching the Coal Tit finding places to hide his sunflower seeds. So far he has put them under some leaves in a corner of the lawn and dropped them into a couple of pots, one with lavender in and one that is empty at present. Wonder if he will remember where they are or whether other birds will find them first?

A frosty start to the day, -1 at 8am. A nice sunrise but starting to cloud over now. There was a very short flurry of snow earlier and the sky looks as if there will be more. The garden is quite busy at present a family of LTT called in before it was completely light.

Frost overnight as I heard OH scraping the windscreen at 6.50am. Beautiful deep blue, cloudless sky and sunshine now, but still chilly.

Frost here earlier & when I went out to fill water & feed the birds after I came home from work, the bird bath was frozen & the edges of the pond, which was very low so I filled it with water. The sky is blue & the sun is very warm through the windows, it feels much warmer than it actually is out.

Been a clear bright day today, but still very cold

The bird activity had increased at the feeders a lot, so it shows that the birds are feeling the cold too. o:)

A frosty start to the day. Temperature 0.4c which rose to the giddy heights of 1.2c for around 30 minutes then down came the snow! The temp has dropped now to 0.3c and the snow has abated, we have a light covering of snow.

Nothing in the garden! I expect the birds will be out in force soon.

Showery, had a weird one just now, which was only raining on half the garden, the other half was dry. Very strange!:eek!::h?:

Windy and quite cold with SNOW! Temps are 28° F and the wind chill is 16° F. !

(It is when the temperature or the wind chill is in the teens F. or lower that the birds who bathe are in serious danger of getting quickly frozen to death and hence we have no bird bath heaters any more.)

Lots of endless rain last night. Now it is bright and sunny but cold!!!!!

The birds where on the bird feeders by the dozen this morning, and Mr Robin has just greeted me too, by sitting everywhere he could in front of the kitchen window - cute thing.

I will be buying some more dried mealworms for him, while on my shopping this afternoon.

Got to go to town this afternoon after the nature program on BBC 2, so I hope that there is no rain when I go out :eek!:

Black ice this morning and very treacherous underfoot. Daughter phoned to tell me not to venture out but the dog needed a walk so I chanced it. I heard on local news that a road to the E coast was closed due to snow. Sleet shower this afternoon, 1C at present.
