Yet another very heavy white frost this morning. Back down to -7C. However, the sun is shining, the mist is going and the birds are very busy. Just the usual so far.

Sunny today, warm through the windows, but it is cold outside & the pond is still frozen. There are lumps of ice on the grass from the bird bath, which haven't melted.

A very heavy frost overnight and everywhere is still frozen now. It is -2.5c out there. Blue sky though, so a pretty (if blooming cold!) day.

Blanket grey sky, -1.5C. Lots of food left over this morning. Strange how often they completely clean up, but on some other occasions they leave a lot. Maybe they like a change from time to time.

-2.3c at present! Positively tropical tomorrow, hope the forecast is correct!:D

Plenty of Blackbirds arguing over the food this morning, there is plenty for all, why do they squabble?:brains:

WINTER STORM WARNING!

We got roughly 4 inches of snow starting yesterday afternoon and are to get 6-10 inches in addition today.

I cleaned off the feeders this morning and shoveled the snow beneath as well as on the patio and scattered more seeds and food for the starlings and who ever. Within 10 minutes the seeds on the ground were already snow covered!

I'll add some photos to the seasonal thread ...... :t:

Mmmmmmm ....... SNOW!!! :-O

Wrap up warm, Lydia....but I suppose you're used to it, not like us wimps across the pond!

It was -3C first thing with another white, but less severe, frost. Sunny morning and then clouded over until now it is completely overcast, but the temp is up to +5C at the moment.

Love the radar link, Lydia. I shall check out the whole site shortly as I love to know what the weather is like in other parts of the world. I already have a NZ weather website which keeps me in touch with my friends down under.

Take care Lydia. I hope that the snow quietens down soon for you!

I am sure that your birds will find those elusive seeds which are hidden in the snow. They never miss a trick when it comes to food. ;)

It is bitterly cold here and the chill factor is brrr. A heavy foggy frost has been hanging around for most of the day at the moment.

We broke the ice in the bird bath this morning, and it was frozen by 3pm today once more. Shows how cold it really is today. :eek!:

Bitterly cold this morning but quite bright. Took my hand out of it's glove for a couple of minutes and it hurt. Out in the countryside saw very little birdlife but saw much more when I returned to the built up areas including red kite circling overhead a couple of streets away from home.

Ha ha! Oh, Pie!:-O I have never heard that expression before...I like it!:t:

The temperature is still only 1.4c as it has been for most of the day! When are these milder temperatures going to reach the West Mids?

The garden was busy with so many birds today...made me dizzy watching them!

Love it Pie

If I would say a Scottish expression for the same thing

Hope it rains, my car is bogging!

A Scottish expression would be:

Hope it rains, my car is Mingin!

Just rolls of the tongue LOL

Pam. I know what you mean, our garden was mad with birds today.
The birdbath water icing over, had to be broken 2 times altogether. The weather is freezing. :eek!:

I have an indoor digital thermometer with an outdoor probe but I wanted to know the lowest/highest temps so got an outdoor max-min. I used it for the first time last night and it showed a min of -5.7C and the temp at 8.30am was -4.5C. Looking out first thing I thought it had been snowing as everything was covered in hoar/rime. In spite of the last few days being freezing the frost hasn't been apparant, apart from frozen ground and water. Looking forward to double figures tomorrow.

Roll on this heat wave. 1.5C at the moment, a dull sky and very strong winds. Not seen a feather in the garden yet, nothing even looks to have been disturbed. Can't blame them if they're still tucked up in the roost.
