We had a VERY hard frost first thing but cloud came in by mid-morning. I finished work at 1pm by which time you could barely see more than a few yards through the fog! I had planned to pop down to Blyth to look for the two Bewick Swans but the driving conditions were so scarey I decided to pop across to Amble Harbour instead and I'm glad I did! Within a mile of the coast the fog suddenly lifted and left a lovely clear day. A bit breezy mind and there was an icy nip in the air but it was so refreshing and invigorating. I've just read that the Bewicks were not seen today but I DID have the most gorgeous Mediterranean Gull in the harbour and then, on the way home, I saw a herd of swans in a field so pulled over and was thrilled to bits when they showed themslves to be six Mute and seven Whooper. :king:
It's currently sounding rather windy outside and 4.6 on the thermometer.
