I was off work Thursday & Friday and didn't have the tv on at all in that time and was shocked to see what has happened to Cumbria when I got in to work this morning! :eek!::-C
Our friend in Glenridding said it was ''a bit damp'' but when I saw the photos in the newspapers and, once I got home, the pics G. had sent Neil via email of the steamer pierhouse...well, I'm just speechless!!!! :eek!:
I'll put some pics up once Neil sends them to my email address.
Today started off bright but with a nip in the air. By midday it was starting to rain and getting very dark and, at times, was very windy and heavy, but it's not too bad now. Damp and chilly - certainly NOTHING like some of the conditions other parts of the UK have experienced!!! :eek!: We seem to have our own little climate in this part of north Northumberland these days :smoke:
Hi Gill
I know of someone in another Forum I am on, who lives in Cumbria. He is finding it hard going at the moment. He has posted a few pictures of the amount of water that is around the town centre and it is something else to behold. The water level reaching half way up the shop windows. That is some water to deal with.
Just to see boats rescuing people is something else. Even the animal rescue people are out in force. :eek!:
Simply to go to the local shops in the town centre is a huge issue at the moment. Sainbury's is open but to who, and what shoppers - if they are around.
Apparently a Policeman was washed of a bridge, and has not been seen since. A body has been found. :-C
Another incident involving another bridge built in the 18th century is wobbling around now.
So much for listed historical buildings not coping with deluge of water. :eek!:
Not so good in more ways than one.
Look forward to seeing your pictures, Gill.
My heartfelt sympathy for anyone living in the area who is water bound at the moment. :-C
Regards
Kathy
