Welsh Ospreys 2007 (1 Viewer)

The first chick has taken it's first flight yesterday!!!!
The last few days both chicks have been exercising their wings a lot. Yesterday the chick that has flown was exercising it's wings when the hen bird flew in to the nest, this caused the chick to miss it's landing in the nest, and, it landed on a branch about 8 ft below the nest. It was observed for about 4 hours by staff and volunteers, in which time it took a few more flight, eventually landing back in the nest. Lets hope that chick number 2 has an easier first flight

Anyone know when to expect the male back? I will be staying near Porthmadoc for Easter and have a son who would love to see his first Osprey...

Its highly unlikely that the Ospreys will have returned by Easter ,not helped by how early it is. You will probably be a week or two early to see the birds, indeed last year, many of the British birds returned even later than usual. Think the earliest ever Osprey sightiing in UK was in early March so you never know but this is the exception more than the rule. Best of luck anyway.
