Hoopoe landed in the woods at the rear of my house in Bathgate, W. Lothian on 6th September.

Wow that is incredible. I'm in Bathgate too!
Are you an active bird-watcher? If so, what's your local patch? I've been visiting Tailend Moss and the large waste area west of the Whitehill Industrial Estate. Both interesting and a variety of birds, especially in spring.
