Went to Brandon Marsh yesterday hoping the Bee-eater would be on the wires again.Of course it wasn't and to make matters worse everyone I bumped into on the reserve had managed to see it on Sunday.

Very quiet on the reserve with the only decent birds seen were 4 Green Sandpipers from the River Hide.I believe a Grasshopper Warbler was caught and ringed near Cetti's Corner in the morning so one is still around.

Word of warning Tarzan in the jungle didn't have as much trouble as I had going from the west marsh hide to the river hide because ,if the insects don't get you ,the stinging nettles will. Both got me and how.

Max.

Blimey - terrific shots Steve

I was out of the county since Wednesday... out of the country in fact... alas for work, and no play was involved. Glasgow... saw a few gulls, a mistle thrush and a magpie.

Roll on the weekend

Excellent shots Steve!

I see on RBA two Common Cranes were seen at Draycote this afternoon, I probably would have gone but didn't get the message through for some reason. Anyone here see them?

Hi Gareth

Richard Mays and Dave Cox had them this afternoon. They had them from Farborough Bank looking East, they flew around trying to thermal but ended up just off the A426 where after a few minutes took off again heading over Toft and then towards Thurlaston. Richard said they appeared to be landing again but they searched and could not re-locate them. Thare are many fields out of view and I do not think they would have gone far, hopefully get found again tomorrow.

Regards

John

Cool, thought so :)

Lesser-spotted woodpecker today out towards Hatton was the best bird of the day on my little 5 mile walk.
