Moorlands Macro: Close up and personal....with bug
I remember when I got some shots of Bittern there in 2009, it was a cold Monday morning, but after a little patience it put in a grerat performance, I might pop down to see it one day next week as I am working Sat and Sun. Neil.

I received a phone call at 3.30pm today whilst I was at work alerting me to 40+ Waxwings on the Belgrave Road / Clifford Bridge Road junction in Coventry.

I was just leaving work in Leamington and was there by 4.15pm but they had gone.

There are quite a few berry laden bushes just inside Belgrave Road so they could be back tomorrow morning if anyone is interested.

I have been out in torrential rain after a call from a mate telling me that the 40 plus Waxwings had returned to Belgrave Road this morning.

I got there and the flock had grown to 70+ then within thirty minutes it was over 160. The conditions were terrible, torrential rain and a black sky, not conducive to good photography.

I have attached some images of a few I took, plus a Redwing that dropped into the bush at the same time. There is also an image of about 135 of them, the other 25+ were in another tree about fifty yards away.

If the weather brightens up this afternoon I might go back up there to see if I can get some decent shots.

Mobile Phone

Apologies but not a rare or scarce bird but to inform local birders that my mobile contact has temporarily changed to my old number 07931 635242. Some numbers are stored on here but probably not all so if I need to put out or receive news, some may be missed, for which I apologise. I will advise when things return to normal.

Just been watching a flock of 40+ Waxwings stationary in conifers & alders along the Hagley Road in Stourbridge 2 gardens away from us! They stayed for about 15 mins before flying off towards Wychbury Hill/Clent. We saw a flock of a smilar size fly over yesterday so hopefully they are staying local for a while!

I had a nice afternoon wonder around Earlswood Lake.

Got a couple of pics of the Mandarin on Windmill - hopefully attached.

Cheers!

I was handed a photo today by a friend of the family of a Hoopoe that was on the lawn of the photographers garden somewhere in Walsall a few days ago, however in my attempt to glean more info I was told that the bird had now disappeared and the property owner under no circumstances did not his address releasing, not even to me.

What is it with Walsall, I have seen two Hoopoe's in the boro'.
