Thanks for the ID, Lee :t: I had a go for the kingfisher and hobby at BM yesterday. Saw neither :-O Got some pics of a green woodpecker, green sandpipers, grass snake, lapwing, heron, lt tits, juve robin lying on the path sunbathing and a couple of little grebes. Then popped over to UW Flashes, where I saw everything Kay mentioned, except the lesser whitethroats and the little owl, but the godwits tend to stay on the far side of the lake, so naff for photos. And then over to Shenstone to try to see if I could snap the whinchat. No chance. Nowt there. On the way back to the car, spotted a green woodpecker, then there were 3 of them! Excellent, I thought... then a car went by, 2 left immediately. Bugger, I thought... as 2 more cars went by. Then 5 more... then another 5. What the hell's going on, I muttered, as the last woodie buggered off... then 2 police cars (with sirens on) screamed by, followed by a police chopper. At this point I guessed that a) something serious had happened at the end of the road, and b) there was no chance of getting close to the woodies... So I left, drove round the corner, and guess what? A green woodie flew past the car, and landed on the verge next to me. One emergency stop later, window down, and I was shooting one from about 10 feet away! What luck!
