yesterday at the Saline du Moricet

Amongst many others, we saw these

the wing bars seemed to be much "brighter" than usual
so are they Sandpipers ? or Dunlin ?

and the surprise of the day : in a canal bring sea water into the salt pans

5m away
fishing in the strong current we watched him/her for 10' until it disappeared

Gavia stellata is the scientific name of the Red-throated Diver/Loon (which is shown in your image), however Common Loon is the American name for the Great Northern Diver (Gavia immer), which is a much larger and heavier-looking bird.
